Application procedures for students with B.S. degrees from institutions from within the USA
For International Students
The application process is web-based. Apply on-line at https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=sunysb-gs. Domestic students who apply online will receive an automatic fee waiver.
As part of the application process you will need to provide:
- Two copies of official transcripts of undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate course work.
- Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (Stony Brook’s code for score reporting is 2548)
- Three letters of recommendation. If recommendations are not submitted online, please provide two original copies of each recommendation.
Please mail all supplemental materials to: Graduate Admissions, Department of Chemistry, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY 11794-3400
Although we will consider an application file at any time and we do not have a deadline, it can be to your advantage to apply by February 1 if you wish to begin your studies in the fall. Support is provided through teaching and research assistantships and industrial, university and departmental fellowships. For the 2009-2010 academic year, the stipend is $24,000 a year (plus subsidized health insurance and a full tuition scholarship).
Earlier applications are encouraged, particularly for those wishing to be considered in the campus-wide competition for Graduate Council Fellowships.
